A risqué lounge singer goes into witness protection at a convent and finds herself at odds with both the church’s rigid lifestyle and the stern Mother Superior. However, everything changes when she meets the convent’s struggling choir and is able to breathe new life into the church and the community with her powerful voice and provocative dance moves.

Magical Midsummer Dream

Grab your magic wand and head on over to the Phoenix Zoo for a mythical night of wizards, fairies and fantastic beasts. Held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., it’s a Prowl & Play that the kiddos won’t want to miss. Meet-and-greet Tinkerbell, ride a unicorn, search for dragon eggs, be mystified by magicians, encounter giraffes, play at Stingray Bay, move to live music and chill on awesome waterslides.

Hip Hop Dance Championship

Following a year of regional and national qualifying competitions at more than 100 events in 50 countries, the top dance teams take centerstage in the USA & World Hip Hop Dance Competitions and World Battles. Featuring over 4,000 dancers competing in junior, varsity, adult and mega-crew divisions, the performances will be held at Arizona Grand Resort. On August 11, the finals will be at Grand Canyon University.

Rod Stewart

With his signature voice, style and songwriting, Rod Stewart has transcended all genres of popular music, from rock, folk, soul, R & B and American standards; earning him chart-topping albums throughout every decade of his career. You’ll be treated to his classic hits as well as selections from his soon-to-be-re-released album Blood Red Roses. Cyndi Lauper is the special guest.

Fitz’s Supper Club

Join Larry Fitzgerald and the wide receiver’s Arizona Cardinal teammates in celebrating the 10th anniversary of this fundraiser. The 2018 event, themed First and 10, supports the Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund which benefits children and their families through numerous organizations across the country. Held at Dominick’s Steakhouse, guests will enjoy a gala dinner and participate in live and silent auctions.

A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature

Imagine a mirror maze of gigantic proportions that will keep you guessing and laughing as you try to find your way through. It’s your introduction to symmetry and tessellation that demonstrate how patterns and math are integral to our lives. Having survived the maze, there will be numerous interactive displays, showing how patterns and math are the building blocks of life.

Rauschenberg and Johns: The Blurring of Art and Life

The exhibition presents rarely-shown prints from the Museum’s collection by neo-Dada artists Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns that present a lesser-known side of their artistic practices. These works detail a fascinating visual conversation between two of modern art’s most influential creators, evident in their comparable use of collage and mixed media in service of multiple, often uncertain, meanings.

Summer Cocktail Camp

Sip on some of the summer’s most refreshing mixed drinks prepared by Arizona’s top mixologists.The series of cocktail-crafting classes is hosted by PHOENIX Magazine and AWE Collective. Belly up to the bar on August 5 at Taco Chelo in downtown Phoenix, August 12 at Clever Koi in Gilbert, August 19 at Social Hall in Tempe and August 26 at Mowry & Cotton located in the Phoenician Resort.

Harlem Globetrotters

You’ll be whistling “Sweet Georgia Brown” as the legendary basketball team hits the court with their action-packed, fast-paced, high-energy moves. Skilled at combining athleticism, theater and comedy, their style of play always delivers a fun-filled evening. New on the tour this season, the Flying Globies, an acrobatic  trampoline dunk squad, will perform mid-air stunts that defy gravity.

The Colombian superstar brings her El Dorado Tour to Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix. Shakira’s Latin American roots, Lebanese heritage and rock & roll influences are evident in her singing, songwriting and dancing. After serving as a coach on The Voice, her popularity in the States has skyrocketed. Anticipate that hits will be performed in both Spanish and English.
