As indicated by the checkered flags that were prominently displayed at last week’s Addressing Luncheon, preparations for the 59th annual Heart Ball are approaching the finish line. The committee members met on September 17 at Mountain Shadows Resort to insert the gala invitations in envelopes which were mailed later that day.

After completing the mailing, guests entered the Mountain Shadows Ball Room where lunch was served. Guests enjoyed a delicious salad of sliced chicken and shaved apples on a bed of organic greens prepared by the resort’s culinary staff at Hearth ’61. Tim Braun, vice president and general manager of Neiman Marcus Scottsdale presented fashions by the legendary Oscar de la Renta label. In recognition of Braun’s birthday, he was presented with a cake.

She also announced that Carolyn Ross will be this year’s recipient of the Peggy Goldwater Award.
