The second annual Wine Women and Shoes, presented by PetSmart, was held at Chateau Luxe on September 15. Hosted by the Fresh Start Women’s Foundation Auxiliary Board, the fundraising event included wine, shopping, a sit-down gourmet luncheon and fashion show. 

Bringing together friends, colleagues, daughters, mothers and grandmothers, guests gathered to raise over $200,000. All proceeds benefit Fresh Start Women’s Foundation.

The Super Raffle featured items such as a Hollywood VIP package, Napa Valley Trip and Wine Fridge.

Founded in 1992, the mission of Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is to provide education, resources and support for women to positively transform their lives and strengthen the community. The nonprofit organization provides a variety of programs and services focusing on career, education, and life skills as well as offering supportive services to assist any women over the age of 18 in reaching their full potential.

Chelsey Davis, from ABC15 Arizona, held the coveted title of emcee. Attendees were treated to a sophisticated afternoon of wine tastings, a silent auction featuring amazing products and retail goodies, a fashion marketplace and a fashion show presented by Dillard’s. 

This year’s Key to the Closet was sponsored by Scottsdale Fashion Square and Classy Closest. One lucky winner walked away with a closet valued at $8,250 and included designer bags, beauty baskets, gift cards and more.

A highlight of the luncheon was the Key to the Closet competition, an opportunity to win the ultimate closet. “I am so proud of the leadership shown by our Co-Chairs Kendra Miller and Lorena Van Assche,” says Cathy Kleeman, vice-president of development at Fresh Start. “The Fresh Start Auxiliary Board has always been critical to the growth of our organization, it is amazing to see what a great job they have done reaching the next generation of people that will be passionate about Fresh Start’s mission.”

The luncheon also featured 30+ community-minded Shoe Guys who competed to be crowned the King of Sole. The winner, ranked by one’s fundraising efforts, raised over $2,000. Andy Parnell, CCO, Lane Terralever was crowned king. Raising in excess of $10,000, the Shoe Guys also served as volunteers.

Excited to build on the success of Wine, Women & Shoes, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation will begin planning the next year’s event which will be held on September 21, 2019. www.freshstartwomen.org
