SEVEN SWEATERS

Although milder that most locales, winter does bring a chill in the Valley air. Wanting to be stylishly prepared, we turned to Barneys New York to peruse their exclusive sweater designs that use exquisite Loro Piana Italian yarn. Here, Barneys Fashion Director Marina Larroudé describes how she wears the wardrobe staple seven days a week.

MONDAY: Cable Knit

“A cable knit sweater is so cozy and classic, but it doesn’t mean you have to dress like an actual fisherman as its alternate name suggests. I modernized this oversized cashmere version with a brocade Prada miniskirt and Miu Miu heeled hiking boot for a look that feels really freshand, mostly importantly, warm enough.”

TUESDAY: Fine Wool Cardi

“Cardigans are the It-sweater of the season, and what I love most is their versatility. Here, I’m using a thin, wool cardi to winterize a floral maxi from Brock. And while buttoning them all the way up is a major trend right now, I chose to leave it open with this look to expose the low neckline of the dress.”

WEDNESDAY: Shell Crewneck

“I like to create looks around a statement piece, in this case it’s the Altuzarra skirt with a sexy side slit. I keep an arsenal of these fine gauge shells in my wardrobe because they are so easy to style back. I especially like this one because it’s a metallic silk-blend, so it feels a little more special.”

THURSDAY: Color Pop

“In the depths of winter, color is the easiest way to brighten up your day, and I really love this fun spin on a cardigan (it has buttons up the back!). I clashed the bubble gum pink of the top with these playful silk wide-leg pants from one of my new favorite brands, PT01. This look is polished enough for the office, while still being playful.”

FRIDAY: Striped Turtleneck

“When it’s super cold outside, I turn to reliable turtlenecks. I love that this one feels classic but has modern details like front pockets and stripes, it just feels more elevated. To keep the look fun, I paired it with my hot pink Le Kilt mini—all in all, this is a very Marina winter uniform look!”

SATURDAY: Elevated Cardigan

“This bouclé sweater might be my favorite of the season! It’s as warm as a light jacket, and the cashmere means it’s incredibly soft. My weekends are so busy, and I love that I can throw it on with jeans and instantly feel polished without sacrificing comfort. I wear it with everything from dresses to denim, and even leggings.”

SUNDAY: Oversized Cardi

“Not to over preach the importance of cardigans this season, but here’s another perfect example of how easily a plush cardi can elevate a look. I never want to look sloppy, even if I’m running out for a hot yoga class, and this fuzzy sweater is the perfect topper. I also love how the striped trimming feels classically preppy.”
