Vino con Stelle
On May 20, Richard J Stephenson, founder and chairman of Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Gateway for Cancer Research, and Dr. Stacie J. Stephenson, CTCA chairman of Functional Medicine and Gateway Board of Directors, presented Vino con Stelle at The Silverleaf Club in Scottsdale. The event was produced by Michael Ravenhill and Mandell Entertainment Group. The evening of food, wine and entertainment under the stars was inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Following a presentation of Gateway’s work from Teresa Hall Bartels, the organization’s president, the Stephensons announced plans for Gateway’s inaugural Scottsdale Gala to be held next spring. The event, in addition to the annual Cures Gala hosted in Chicago, will benefit funding for cancer research worldwide.
The evening was led by lifestyle journalist and former Good Morning Arizona host Tara Hitchcock. Michael Patton, Silverleaf’s executive chef, prepared the gourmet dinner, pairing the menu with hand-selected wines by Alpana Singh, master sommelier.
Following cocktails on the Silverleaf terrace, guests were seated at van Gogh-blue tables topped with candelabras and enhanced with green lights jetting from the desert brush. Following dinner, guests were treated to entertainment that included pieces from Matteo Bocelli, son of Andrea Bocelli, whose performance was his second in the United States; America’s Got Talent finalist and “Golden Buzzer” winner Laura Breton; and international recording artist Kelly Levesque. American pianist William Joseph accompanied the vocal performances.
