Go For The Gold
Gold has been touted for its wrinkle-fighting and radiance-boosting properties for centuries: Cleopatra allegedly worked face masks made from it into her famously lavish beauty routine. That’s just one of the reasons that the queen of the Nile would feel right at home at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Dubai, an opulent resort frequently visited by royalty. In the hotel’s marble- and mosaic-bedecked Talise Ottoman Spa, guests can book a full-day journey fit for a queen, including a milk and rose oil bath, argan-oil massage, the use of an Arabian gold hammam, caviar lunch in the spa suite and a custom-made 24-karat gold facial mask.
The World’s Most Luxurious Spa Experience, $6,800 for a full day, Talise Ottoman Spa at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Dubai.
Oprah Winfrey and Uma Thurman are among discerning travelers visiting Ananda Spa in the Himalayas, India. The pampering healing treatments at this retreat are the highlight, including the famed Abhyanga. This traditional Ayurvedic therapy utilizes the expert digits of two masseuses for a luxurious four-handed massage, followed by a centuries-old treatment that includes oil gently poured over the forehead to help blood circulation and open the “third eye” for better mental clarity. While one masseuse pours the oil, another massages your feet and balances your chakras.

There aren’t many couples resorts sensual enough to have inspired The Bachelor to film there twice, but Sugar Beach, St. Lucia brings more than just romance. To truly pamper guests at its spa, the hotel takes their most indulgent treatment off-property to the nearby sulphur springs where a therapist slathers on mineral-rich volcanic mud straight from the source, then loofahs couples under the naturally warm Toraille waterfall. The mud is said to increase circulation, soften tight muscles, helps with skin disorders, and naturally exfoliate. The treatment is capped off by heading back to the resort for a full-body massage.
