Upon entering Cummings Great Hall on January 30 for the Independent Woman Luncheon 2018, attendees were awe struck. The 60 tables, each created by local designers, floral designers and design sources, were a feast for the eyes.
Those participating were told the event theme, Kaleidoscope: The Art of Contrast, and given a circular graphic black and white table cloth: the fabric provided by Kravet, Inc. and constructed by Ardy’s Custom Workshop. This year acrylic “ghost chairs” were used, which cleverly eliminated any distraction from the table settings.
Each designer was asked to set their table in a fashion that would reflect both the IWL 2018 theme and interpret Amy Lau’s, the 2018 keynote speaker, distinctive style. Lau draws upon nature and tends towards a colorful palette, furnishing in a contemporary style that is punctuated with classic, vintage pieces.

In true creative fashion, each table was adorned with the most stunning and diverse elements . No two tables were alike, yet each were elegant and well-executed. Guests arrived early to view each tablescape carefully and placed their bid on the design of their choosing. The highest bidder of each table was the owner of that table design.
