The 11th Annual Event Returns to Goodyear

The skies above Goodyear Ballpark will be dotted with a
flotilla of colorful hot-air balloons throughout this weekend
event from Friday, January 28, through Sunday, January 30.

Attendees will watch dozens of balloons zoom skyward during races taking place during daytime hours. After landing, they’ll then become illuminated after dark while glowing in time to music. A food festival, vendor booths, and live performances by local musicians are also planned. Admission is priced at $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and free for active-duty military and children under 12.

This outdoor event located in the city of Goodyear will feature shows and activities throughout the day and evening for the whole family. Up to 25 hot-air balloons, including unique shapes, will participate in the morning and evening balloon shows. Held at the Goodyear Ballpark, there will also be a Family Fun Zone, Taste of the Classic, and 2nd annual Desert Winds Kite Festival. 

Early bird pricing is now available for one-day, adult general admission tickets. Tickets may be purchased online at www.abcfest.com. One dollar from each ticket sold at the 2022 Arizona Balloon Classic will be dedicated to Valley of the Sun United Way.

THE SCHEDULE

Hot Air Balloon Races, Saturday & Sunday from 7:35 a.m – 8:35 a.m.

During the Hare & Hound Races, the skies will be filled with hot-air balloons participating in a thrilling competition from the grassy fields of the Goodyear Ballpark for a spectacular sight of mass and color. Walk on the field and experience the balloons inflation and lift off.

Desert Glows, Friday & Saturday from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The most popular event, guests will see the  field full of illuminated, tethered, hot air balloons will glow in time to music. The Pilot parades will lead off the evenings’ festivities. Don’t miss the Fireworks Show on Saturday night.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Taste of the Classic, Friday, Saturday & Sunday

At this culinary experience of festival food favorites, visit the “Beer & Beverage Stations” while enjoying live music. Food & Beverage Services Owned & Operated by J.J. & Sons, proud owners of local mobile restaurants Piggly’s BBQ & Piggly’s Seafood.

Desert Winds Kite Festival, Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m – 2 p.m.

At the 2nd Annual Desert Wind Kite Festival, My Wind Stuff and Premier Kites & Designs will feature huge show kites, candy cannons, paper rocket making and launching, and parachute ground racing. Kites for all ages and abilities will be on hand for sale including single line, dual-line sport kites, as well as quad line stunt kites.

Saturday  from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m., and
Sunday from 7:00 a.m. –  2:00 p.m.
